“A party, a screen and sixty nights of free movie under the stars” is the no-frills description of Rome’s steepest film series this summer.
In the third edition of the festival, hosted in the Trastevere district in Piazza San Cosimato, organized by Piccolo Cinema America, the festival will offer from the Disney family and Pixar, WALL-E (June 10), Finding Nemo (June 24) and Aladdin (July 23), to the greats of cinema Michelangelo Antonioni, David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, Asghar Farhadi (presenting his Oscar winner film on June 30) and Luigi Magni, to The Horror The Exorcist (June 24), The Night of the Living Dead (July 8) even more. Directors and actors such as Carlo Verdone (introducing the film of Bellissima, the 1956 film by Visconti on June 23), Gabriele Salvatores (presenting his film Nirvana), Radu Mihăileanu, Anna Foglietta, Edoardo Leo and more will come over as special guests.
Films will be shown in their original language with Italian subtitles, while children’s films may be dubbed in Italian.
This year the festival doubled the outdoor seating to 400, but make sure you get there early to take a seat!
